Trening makeup

Fitness is big business. From spinning to high intensity interval training (HIIT), Brits are signing up to classes and stringent workout routines. But while we might be happy to swap our morning lattes for green juices and even invest in chic ‘athleisure’ Lycra leggings, not all of us are happy to forgo make-up in the name of wellness. Which is why so many beauty brands are currently releasing what they call ‘gym-proof make-up’ – despite warnings from skin experts about wearing a full face of foundation to exercise.

So are they worth the investment?

Gym-proof mascara

Eyeko’s Sport Waterproof Mascara, £19, claims to last from your morning workout right through to the end of your working day. Yet, cosmetic scientist and founder of The Beauty Brains Randy Scheller notes the formula isn’t dissimilar from your average waterproof mascara. «I’ve seen these ingredients used in other mascaras, so I don’t know what’s unique about this one.»

That’s not to say you shouldn’t wear this to the gym, but if you already own a perfectly good waterproof mascara, we wouldn’t recommend you go out of your way to try this one.
